Sierra
Sands at the Dunes is ideally located for our
guests to take advantage of an enormous number of activities that
will ensure the most enjoyable vacation ever. The centerpiece
is the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, which consists of 2,000 acres
of living, shifting sand. The dunes are towering mounds that are
bordered on the east by the crystal clear waters of Silver
Lake. Be prepared to swim, fish, snorkel, scuba, jet-ski, paraglide,
water ski, hike or just work on your tan for hours on
end.
The dunes are bordered on
the west by Lake Michigan. The shoreline stretches for over
five miles and include some of the most beautiful white sand
beaches you will ever see. The Lake Michigan shoreline
is perfect for hiking, picnicking or sunbathing.
Just a short walk south of the dunes is the Little Point Sable
Lighthouse, which dates back to the 1870s.
You
will be pleased to know that the Michigan state government has
agreed to re-open the lighthouse to the public in 2006
for tours to the top. It may be a long climb, but the view
will be spectacular. Be sure to take your
camera.
